ESPRIT Press Release

ESPRIT 2008 at Citizen Machinery America’s Swiss Made Simple Seminar Sept. 11-12 (7-Sep-2007)

ESPRIT 2008, the latest release from computer-aided-manufacturing (CAM) industry leader DP Technology, will be exhibited Sept. 11 and 12 at Citizen Machinery America’s Swiss Made Simple Seminar, where visitors will learn how ESPRIT can help programmers of Citizen Swiss-style lathes perform duties more rapidly, reduce set-up time and generate more accurate programs.

The seminar, which will take place in Agawam, Mass., is designed to show attendees with varied levels of knowledge the role that Swiss turning technologies play in manufacturing today.

In addition to interaction with staff from DP Technology, visitors to the show can attend a demonstration of ESPRIT 2008 that will illustrate how the software can help users take complete advantage of a machine’s capabilities.

ESPRIT 2008 includes functions specific to and customized for Citizen Swiss-style lathes, including a custom Citizen machine set-up interface with machine data pages for L, M, C, R and B-series machines; a custom tool interface that manages tool shifts and Citizen holders; accurate machine simulation with embedded machine models; and postprocessors for Citizen lathes.

Increased performance and productivity for the lathe programmer are available with the new features in ESPRIT 2008, including new threading cycles with a database of standard thread dimensions, a new cutoff cycle with greater tool control, flexibility for a larger variety of cutting tools, improved material removal and machine simulation for more realistic computer based dry-runs, and the ability to handle an even larger variety of machine configurations (spindles and turrets) in support of today’s advanced multi-tasking and mill-turn machine tools.

On display at the seminar will be the numerous enhancements available in ESPRIT 2008, including significant improvements for milling, turning and wire EDM programming. The seminar will aid in illustrating how, in addition to increasing the performance of the CAM software, upgrades within ESPRIT 2008 reduce the time required to produce part programs while increasing the quality of those programs and helping to reduce machining cycle times.
